Blameless

Blessed are they whose ways are blameless, who walk according to the law of the LORD.
Blessed are they who keep his statutes and seek him with all their heart.
Psalm 119:1,2

These verses from Psalm 119 express the same promise as Psalm 37: 4, “Delight yourself in the LORD and he will give you the desires of your heart.” This message has been the subject of my meditations as I seek the “true wisdom” that consists of knowing God and knowing myself in relation to God. Blessings come to those who walk according to this “true wisdom.” But who can say that his ways are blameless before the Lord. Who can say that they seek Him with all their heart?” As I go about my daily living, choosing to experience God’s presence and being honest with both God and myself, I often find that instead of feeling blessed I feel uncomfortable. My heart resonates with the apostle Paul when he writes, “I do not understand what I do. For what I want to do I do not do, but what I hate I do… What a wretched man I am! Who will rescue me from this body of death?” (Roma 7:15ff). I am so glad that God’s Word shows us real people experiencing the same struggles we do, then finding victory. Like Paul I remembered that it is Christ who sets us free from this “body of death,” and I cried out, “Thanks be to God – through Jesus Christ our Lord.”

I would like to say a hearty agreement to that post about our unworthiness in ourselves but our worthiness because of Jesus. I was impressed recently by going to the websites of former murderers, like "Son of Sam", now "Son of Hope", David Berkowitz. He is today cleansed in Christ and as worthy in Christ as I am in Christ. Without Christ equally unworthy. His story should be proclaimed from the rooftops in glory to our Savior Jesus and our gracious God! Another is minister in prison Charles "Tex" Watson one of the most notorious of the Manson family murderers. They have repented fully and deeply and daily regret their harm to innocent people. They are washed in the blood of Jesus. We must not recoil but rejoice when true repentance and salvation occurres in our Lord Jesus. It is to his honor and glory that we or anyone is cleansed and forgiven because of his sacrifice on the cross. God has not overlooked these crimes or our crimes winked an eye at them. He has been just in condemning and punishing his willing precious loving Son on our behalf. This brings me to tears as I stand with all murderers and adulterers and thieves etc helpless before Almighty and righteous and Holy God. He took my blame. He took my punishment He took everyone's punishment. Even David Berkowitz's and Charles "Tex" Watson's. When we turn to Him in our abject sinfulness and poverty and fall at His feet and accept His gracious gift of eternal life. Yes this should be shouted from the rooftops!!!!!!!!!!!
